About the project

Project Spotlight: 9,500 Sq. Ft. Vibrant Cafeteria at Pimpri-Chinchwad, Pune

As part of a holistic interior transformation for a major enterprise-tech firm in Pimpri-Chinchwad, Uniworks Designs was tasked with delivering a 9,500 sq. ft. cafeteria that would energize the workforce and create a cultural hub within the workplace.

The Vision

Beyond serving food, the cafeteria was to become a social anchor—a vibrant, inviting space where employees could connect, recharge, and break away from screen time. The client emphasized a youthful, lively vibe infused with handmade artistry and bold color palettes.

Design Approach

We crafted the space to feel like a casual café meets art studio—combining modern dining layouts with vibrant wall treatments, local art pieces, and flexible seating clusters for all moods: social, solo, or semi-formal.

Key Design Highlights:

• Bold wall panels with hand-painted murals celebrating creativity and tech

• Mixed seating formats – high tables, benches, soft lounge seats

• A central food counter island with modular display and lighting

• Warm ambient lighting blended with custom pendant installations

• Use of locally sourced, artisanal finishes to bring character and story

Challenges We Managed

1. Site-Level Coordination
   With concurrent work ongoing in reception and CXO zones, executing a high-footfall area like the cafeteria required careful phasing. We split civil, MEP, and carpentry teams by zone and worked off-shift hours to avoid cross-interference.

2. Handmade Artwork Integration
   Coordinating local artists’ timelines with overall project milestones was a challenge. We onboarded muralists early, shared rendered wall mockups, and conducted live trials to ensure alignment with brand vision.

3. Volume Management
   The sheer size (9,500 sq. ft.) demanded extensive HVAC rerouting and acoustic planning to avoid echo. We introduced acoustic ceiling baffles and wall absorbents disguised as décor elements.

Final Experience

The finished cafeteria is a colorful, energizing space that reflects both global design aesthetics and Indian cultural roots. It has become the most frequented zone in the office—used not just during meal hours but also for informal team huddles, ideation sessions, and after-hours socializing.

Client Impact

The management noted a noticeable uplift in employee engagement and morale, with feedback highlighting how the cafeteria contributes to workplace wellness and daily motivation. For new recruits and visiting clients, the space serves as a statement of the company’s employee-first ethos.
